HISTORY

Folsom City Ink was opened in 2000 by Tattooist Bill Henderson “Filthy Bill.” Soon after, a longtime friend, George Hernandez, joined up and the team just kept growing from there.

Fairly soon after opening, the shop took on an apprentice, Conrad Melancon. He has since completed his apprenticeship (2009)and continued to on with us until May of 2017. Conrad is currently touring and doing guest spots. He’ll be an asset to any shop that he’s sitting in and though he’s mentioned future guest spots sitting in with us at FCI, he can regularly be found with our good friends at Orchard City Tattoo in Orangevale CA.

George Tattooed at FCI for ten years. He specialized in Traditional Americana and Japanese style tattooing, but also has more than proved himself in most forms of tattooing. George was and is one the best in this now vastly expanding world of tattooing. He currently owns Sacred Tiger Tattoo in the city of Davis Calif. and is still one of the best friends I have in the biz. We love you George, you and your sweet family.

Three years in, we picked up long time Tattoo Artist “Big Frank”. Frank worked with us for 7 years. During that time, he brought to our attention many great rock bands and endless horror movie recommendations. Frank has since moved on and we definitely wish him happiness and success. Should he ever enjoy another, I would be happy to join him for a Newcastle.

Mike Jupp joined us all the way from Chicago. He was with the team for more than four years. He is still a Tattooin’, paintin’, airbrushin’ madman. He is also a big fan of classic cars and you will want to see what he’s rolling in on. Currently, Mike is working at Sacred Tiger Tattoo & Royal Peacock Tattoo.

Over the years we’ve had the honor of several guest artist including- Schmoe Dawg, RoseBud, Ron Domstead (RIP), Tim Reasons, Shaun Hanna, Frankie Mancuso, Nate Gonzalez Kenny Ray, Rob Fargo and Jim Howard.
